Computer skills are critical skills that all students need. In today’s world, kids will interact with technology in their personal lives, at school and later in their professional careers. By utilizing a curriculum, such as that offered by Rex Academy, students will be able to learn essential skills that will assist in providing them with the ability to assess internet safety, to gain technology skills that will be utilized in school and to encourage kids to engage in personal growth.
Safety: If kids have an understanding of basic hacking, phishing and scamming techniques, they will be able to better protect themselves from attacks. An awareness of the techniques that are used to lure internet and computer users into providing personal information to nefarious websites, will help kids better assess the safety of the websites, programs and software that they are using.
Education: The world of education is rapidly moving to becoming more technology-inclusive. Classrooms are becoming more commonly equipped with Chromebooks, online learning management systems, and digital coursework. If students have basic computing skills and an understanding of how to effectively use a computer and software, they will be able to spend more time focusing on learning subject matter content and less time learning how to use the technology required for completing their work.
Personal Growth: Learning the inner workings of a computer and the basic skills and techniques for coding, gaming or cybersecurity can give kids confidence in their ability to learn deeply about a subject that they find intriguing. Understanding the basic skills provides kids the opportunity to discover their passions and to continue learning to fulfill personal interests and goals.
Rex Academy’s curriculum provides students with the opportunity to gain experiences in coding, gaming, cybersecurity and STEM projects among many other opportunities. Providing kids with the opportunity to learn basic skills that they will utilize everyday also provides an opportunity to open the world of computer science to kids and give the opportunities to find and pursue their passions.
