Ms. Sabari Raja is on a journey to empower students to succeed in science and math. As the co-founder and CEO of Nepris, she’s making it her mission to connect industry with education. Put simply, Raja is transforming the way teachers teach and students learn by providing them with the tools and resources to gain real-world experience. In a recent episode of Let’s Talk Computer Science, the entrepreneur joined podcast host Sandhya Padala to discuss how she’s playing an active role in furthering STEM education.
With an extensive background in education technology, Raja not only has the experience to successfully manage an e-learning company, but also the brains to back it up. She holds three degrees from various institutions: a bachelor’s in electrical engineering and master’s degrees in both computer science and business administration. At a young age, Raja developed an interest in computer science and education technology but that passion was ignited when she landed her first job out of college at Texas Instruments Education Technology, where she recalls writing code for software used for scientific calculators.
Throughout her professional career, Raja noticed there was a gap between industry and education – something she wanted to change. The businesswoman put her problem-solving skills to the test and created a solution herself. That’s where Nepris comes in! Since the company was founded in 2013, Nepris has made an effort to bring real-world relevance to learning by connecting industry professionals to students from all demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds. So far, the company has reached more than 1.2 million students in K-12 and community colleges. Raja is hoping to make an even bigger impact by expanding the company’s platform and footprint across the country.
